Jon Hosts Policymaker Luncheon
Over 250 community leaders from Essex County attended District Attorney Blodgett’s annual policymaker’s luncheon at Endicott College in late August. Among those attending were U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz (seen pictured with Jon), Congressman John Tierney, Attorney General Martha Coakley, State Senator Fred Berry as well as state representatives, police chiefs, school superintendents, mayors and town managers from throughout the county. Peter Banks from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children address the audience on the changing nature of crimes against children in the digital age. In addition, the District Attorney’s Office released its latest program, “Think Before You Send: Using Digital Communication Responsibly.”
Over 1,000 Signatures Submitted
On April 27 Jon submitted over 1,000 certified signatures to the Secretary of State and is now officially on the ballot. Thanks to everyone who helped to collect these signatures throughout the county. We could not have submitted them well before the May 25th deadline without your help.
Annual Comedy Night Fundraiser
Almost 400 friends, family, staff and well-wishers joined Jon Blodgett at his 8th Annual Comedy Night at Jimmy’s Allenhurst in Danvers on Thursday, March 25, 2010. Before the comedians took the stage, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone recounted how friends and advisors encouraged him to talk to Jon Blodgett as he was preparing to run for District Attorney for the first time. ”Since then, when Jon and I got together, we’ve become very close colleagues. I now know what a great family man he is; what a terrific friend he is; what a trusted confidant and loyal advisor he is. He is my good friend and you are all lucky to have him as your District Attorney,” Leone said.

After Jon thanked and praised his staff for their hard work in the face of budget cuts and thanked all of the people who helped get him elected in 2002, he asked the crowd if he could count on their help in this re-election campaign and the answer was an enthusiastic “yes”! Jon also proudly introduced his new granddaughter Sophia who was making her first public appearance.
